About the project
A personal question, tested against public evidence.
Ubuntu Capital began with memories of South Africa and developed through work experience, independent research, and conversations about the cost of moving money.

Meihan Sun. Ubuntu Capital is an independent, student-led educational project.
Founder
Meihan Sun
Meihan spent several childhood years in Johannesburg. The experience made Africa part of his own history rather than an abstract subject. Years later, a work placement exposed him to risk modeling and questions around digital currencies. He became interested in the distance between a financial system's design and a user's everyday experience.
That interest led to a narrower, more practical question: when a small merchant or family receives money from abroad, where does the value go between the sender's screen and the recipient's hand?
Ubuntu Capital does not claim to have solved that question. It creates research notes, asks users for real transaction outcomes, and labels uncertainty when current pricing is unavailable.
Evidence first
Published figures include a source and date. Provider prices are separated from broader market benchmarks.
Community reports
User submissions remain pending until reviewed and never require bank credentials or identity documents.
Clear limits
The project offers education and comparison, not regulated transfer services or personal financial advice.
The name
“I am because we are.”
Ubuntu is often translated through the idea that a person's life is shaped by relationships with others. For this project, the name is a reminder that financial tools should be judged not only by technical speed, but by what they leave in the hands of the people using them.
